HISTORY OF WSKY AM-1230

WSKY serves the Asheville, NC area with a population of 450,000. WSKY signed on in 1947 and began broadcasting with a pop music format. In 1955, the very popular station sponsored an Elvis Presley concert in Asheville, NC. Throughout the 1970's and 1980's, WSKY was Asheville's "Top 40" station and later in the 1990's aired the "oldies" and talk radio formats. As a conservative talk radio station WSKY was the first Asheville station to air nationally syndicated host Rush Limbaugh.

In 1996, Wilkins Communications Network purchased WSKY and began airing quality Christian teaching, preaching and talk programming which has continued for more than 15 years.
