HISTORY OF KIOU AM-1480
KIOU serves the Shreveport, LA area with a population of 436,000. The station began broadcasting in 1989. The Shreveport metropolitan area has major employers which include General Motors, Barksdale Air Force Base, Christus Schumpert Health System, Louisiana State University at Shreveport and Willis Knighton Health System. Wilkins Communications acquired KIOU in 2008 and began airing Christian talk programming.
