Faith, Hope, and Love: What Truly Lasts

radio listeners February 05, 2026

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” — 1 Corinthians 13:13

Faith and Hope: Anchors for the Journey

Faith and hope are essential for the life of a believer, especially as we navigate a world marked by uncertainty and change. Faith calls us to trust God even when we cannot see the full picture, reminding us that “we live by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). Hope, in turn, points us forward, anchoring our hearts in the assurance of God’s promises and His faithfulness. As Romans 15:13 encourages, God fills us “with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Together, faith and hope strengthen us to endure trials with confidence and expectation.

Love: The Greatest and Eternal Gift

While faith and hope sustain us in this life, love is the defining mark of a life shaped by Christ and the one virtue that will never fade. Scripture tells us that “God is love” (1 John 4:8), and when we love others, we reflect His very nature. Love goes beyond words or emotions—it is patient, kind, and selfless, as beautifully described earlier in 1 Corinthians 13. Jesus Himself taught that love is the greatest commandment, calling us to love God fully and love others as ourselves (Matthew 22:37–39). In the end, love is greatest because it is eternal, uniting us to God and to one another now and forever.
